Accommodation websites and travel agents don't usually go out negotiating rates with resorts. Australian Escapes deals direct with the resorts and we negotiate rate packages. Travel agents deal with wholesalers who take a large commission. We deal direct with the properties and we pass the commission savings on to members as a discount.

Last-minute and other accommodation websites offer mainly hotels, we offer mainly resorts. With hotels, the apparent discounts are between "rack rates" and the advertised rate. Rack rates are rarely ever paid by anyone but they make the sell rate look good. Resort rates are seasonal (winter, summer etc). There are no pumped-up "rack rates". So when we say we offer a 30% discount - it is off the normal everyday rate that ALL others pay. Just as importantly, our range is by far the best available in Australia.
