Your Itinerary

Spend 8 days traversing Viti Levu and immersing yourself in culture and spectacular scenery. This Fiji itinerary starts in Nadi, taking you along some of Viti Levu’s most stunning coastline, to Rakiraki, before taking you South to Fiji's capital city and along the Coral Coast. Along the way, visit many small villages and get to know the locals as you relax in paradise.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN NADI (1 NIGHT)

Welcome to Viti Levu, Fiji! Once you have gone through the airport arrival process, picked up your rental car, it’s time to explore one of Fiji’s largest cities. If you’re intrigued by the culture of a Fiji city, head into town where you can mingle with the locals at the markets, check out the vibrant Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple and indulge in the city’s eateries.

Alternatively, escape to nature immediately by taking the Nadi back roads to the Sabeto Valley, home to hot pools and the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. Your hire car, paired with your Lonely Planet guide, will take you through some amazing destinations - don’t forget your camera!

DAY 2: NADI - RAKIRAKI (2 NIGHTS)

Today you drive through the spectacular coastal scenery of the Suncoast, famous for having the longest sunshine hours in Fiji.There are plenty of sights to see along the way between the Church of the Black Christ and the Tomb of Udre Udre - the tomb of a once feared cannibal.

We recommend you take a detour to Navala Village, a traditional 200-year-old village deep in the mountain landscape of Viti Levu. In the last afternoon, check-in to your accommodation and enjoy a traditional lova dinner. Depending on availability, your accommodation may be on nearby Nananu-i-Ra Island.

DAY 3: EXPLORE RAKIRAKI

Spend some more time relaxing in Rakiraki/Suncoast doing activities you might have missed yesterday. We suggest exploring the awe-inspiring Sigatoka River, the longest river on Viti Levu. It meanders from the hills of the Navosa Province to the iconic sand dunes of Kulukulu on the renowned Coral Coast. Embark on a scenic river cruise followed by an exhilarating jet-boating adventure. Along the way, enjoy village stopovers for an immersive cultural experience.

DAY 4: RAKIRAKI - SUVA (1 NIGHT)

Get back on the road with a scenic drive inland on Viti Levu passing through small villages. Along the way, take a detour to Takalana Bay Retreat and watch the dolphins at Moon Reef.

At Wailotua Village (the westernmost village of the two with the same name), ask one of the villagers if you can have a guide to see the Wailotua Snake God Cave - you won’t regret it and it will only cost a couple of bucks! Your trip today ends in Suva, Fiji’s capital city, where you’ll want to save some time to check out the Fiji Museum and enjoy some food and drink.

DAY 5: SUVA - PACIFIC HARBOUR (1 NIGHT)

A short drive away from Fiji’s administrative capital is Fiji’s adventure capital, the Pacific Harbour. The town is famous for its adrenaline activities, including white water rafting, shark dives, jet boating, ziplining and more.

Experience the thrill of gliding through treetops, soaking in breathtaking vistas of the Wainadoi River Valley on our exhilarating half-day zipline adventure. Or, embark on an unforgettable journey through the remarkable highlands of Viti Levu, navigating the unique Upper Navua River canyon. Discover lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and thrilling rapids on this unforgettable excursion into paradise.

DAY 6: PACIFIC HARBOUR - CORAL COAST (2 NIGHTS)

Today includes a beautiful coastal drive through Fiji’s popular Coral Coast! Here, you have 80km of bays and beaches to explore along the Queens Road.

The Coral Coast has a great mix of tourist resorts, where activities are easy to organise, as well as Fijian villages and towns so you are never too far from experiencing the real Fiji.

DAY 7: ROBINSON CRUSOE SUNSET CRUISE

You’ll be glad to spend more time on the Coral Coast, if not for the idyllic beaches then for the gastronomical experiences. One of which is an optional cultural cruise where you’ll also be able to sample a traditional “lovo” feast, which is where food is wrapped in banana leaves and slow-cooked in an earth oven, as well as experience a live fire dance.2

Embark on this Sunset Cruise, Dinner & Show for an evening that you won’t quickly forget! Learn about Fijian culture, witness exhilarating dances and be captivated from start to finish.

DAY 8: RETURN HOME

Either drive to the Nadi Airport where you can return your rental car. At the airport, you’ll be able to do some last-minute souvenir shopping, sit down with a meal and hop on a plane to your next destination!
